9.1 The different between L.C.C with D.D.C
  
The Library of Congress classification System is subject-based, classifying and arranging items by the subject matter involved. The Hampshire College library uses LC call number for most of its collection.    
 The LC system is broken into 21 primary  classes, or general subject areas, represented by letters.
       For   example:  A. General Words
                                B. Philosophy, Psychology
                                C. World history
                                D. Social Sciences
                                E. Law

Dewey Decimal Classification System : under this system, every call number begins with three numbers,followed by various letters and/or number combinations.The numbers correspond to subject areas.
       For example : 000-099  Computers
                              100-199  Philosophy
                              200-299  Social Science
                                     270  Education
                                     271  Social Education
                                     272  Adult Education
